1971 Tyrrell 003 - Jackie Stewart 1/20th Scale Model Kit

$67.49

In 1969 Ken Tyrrell's Tyrrell Racing Organization won it's first World Championship with Jackie Stewart at the wheel of a Matra MS80.Tyrrell then decided to create his own team for the 1970 season. While starting the season with a March 701 chassis, Tyrrell secretly hired Derek Gardner. Gardner's first F1 machine thus became the Tyrrell 001. Although not trouble free, the car showed potential. The car was further improved for 1971 becoming the Tyrrell 002 and 003. 002 was made available to Francois Cevert from the start of the season while 003 became Stewart's car from the starting from tje Grand Prix of Spain.

Jackie Stewart drove 003 to victory in it's maiden race at the Grand Prix of Spain and followed with a pole to win at the following Grand Prix of Monaco. 003 having now adopted a new, blunt “sportscar” nosedesign, Stewart went on to record back to back wins in the French, British and German Grand Prix before adding one more victory in the Canadian Grand Prix on the way to his way to his second World Driving Championship. In addition to his victory in the United States Grand Prix, Cevert also took four podiums at the wheel of the 002 sister car, with 002 and 003 together bringing Team Tyrrell it's first Constructor's championship.
