Junior Johnson is credited with discovering and utilizing the racing benefits of “drafting”, using the slpistream from a faster car to slingshot past opponents.

He drove the #26 Holly Farms Galaxie into vicotry lane 13 times out of the 36 races he ran in 1965. Junior retired from driving in NASCAR races in 1966. In his driving career, he claimed 50 victories with 11 of those at major speedways.

As a team owner Johnson worked with some legendary NASCAR drivers such as Cale Yarborough, Darrell Waltrip, Bobby Allison, Darel Dieringer, LeeRoy Yarbrough, Bill Elliot, Jimmy Spencer, Neil Bonnett, Geoffery Bodine, Sterling Martin and Terry Lebaonte.

His drivers win 139 races and 6 Winston Cup Championships, 3 with Yarborough, and 3 with Waltrip.

Junior Johnson was inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame on May 23, 2010.
