Ferrari 126C2 1/43rd Diecast - 1982 Italian Grand Prix

$57.99

1982 started off with great promise for Ferrari after a couple of difficult seasons. The new 126C2 was a huge leap forward in handling over the previous 126CK, and the V6 had more power and driveability than the previous year's engine.

The season hit a tragic note early on when the team's number 1 driver, Gilles Villeneuve, was killed in a qualifying accident at the Belgian Grand Prix. Patrick Tambay was brought in to replace Villeneuve 4 races later, debuting at the Dutch Grand Prix. 3 races later Pironi was badly injured in a crash at Hockenheim during qualifying.

Mario Andretti came in to replace Pironi for the final 2 races of the season, scoring the last podium of his Formula 1 career with a 3rd place finish at Monza in his debut with the 126C2. Despite finishing the season with 2 different drivers than they started with, Ferrari captured their first Constructor's Championship since 1979.
