Gilles Villeneuve Ferrari 126CK 1/43rd Diecast - Montreal

$42.99

While the 1981 Ferrari 126CK was a big step up from the previous year's 312 T5, it wasn't without it's issues. While the V6 produced prodigious amounts of power, like all early turbo's it suffered from turbo lag and while the engine was great, the chassis still left something to be desired.

The Canadian Grand Prix was held at the end of the season for it's first 15 years, and that meant weather was always going to be an issue. In 1981, it rained. A lot. Villeneuve, however, was in his element and in a career full of spectacular moments, this was one of his most spectacular. After moving from 11th on the starting grid into the top 3 by the 14th lap, Villeneuve collided with Elio De Angelis's Lotus while trying to lap him.

Villeneuve drove for 15 laps with the front wing in various states of disrepair until it finally came off with 8 laps to go. Despite the rain and wing issues Villeneuve reached the podium on what would be his final home Grand Prix.
